This Holiday Season's Techie Toys

    This Holiday Season's Techie Toys

Technology is part of our everyday lives and your kids' toybox is likely no exception. NBC 5 Responds has some of the best techie toys to put under the Christmas tree this holiday season. (Published Friday, Dec. 9, 2016)

Technology is all around us and the kids can't get enough of it, but some of this years hottest tech toys are more than just child's play.

Kids want to be like mom and dad.

"Our children are swiping before they're speaking," the Toy Insider Mom Laurie Schact said.

If you want their Christmas present to be more than just play, the Kurio Smart comes with games, apps and everything needed to get some work done.

"[It] has everything that our desktop has," Schact said. "Kids can do their homework on here, they can write paper on here."

Meccano Micronoids are tiny robots kids can build and program. They'll even dance when music plays.

And keep the dance party going with Zoomer Chimp, which follows voice commands. Zoomer is the closest most kids will get to having their own pet chimp.

But for all the singer's out there, there's a selfie stick meets karaoke machine. The selfie microphone lets you record, watch your audio levels and sing along to your favorite hits.
