The State Fair of Texas offers so many discounts on admission, it's almost hard to pay full price.
First, there are two discounts that can be used on any day of the fair.
- Dr. Pepper half price after 5 p.m. Just bring a empty Dr. Pepper can any day after 5 p.m. for half off the regular $16.50 admission price.
- McDonald's any day discount. Coupons are available at McDonald's locations across North Texas for $5 off general admission. Or you can use the coupon for half off a child's ticket with the purchase of one regular adult admission.
Next, there are different discounts available on different days of the week.
- Dr. Pepper $6 Tuesdays. Just bring an empty Dr. Pepper can and get a general admission ticket for $6. One can per person.
- North Texas Food Bank $4 Wednesday. Just bring four canned goods to donate to the North Texas Food Bank and get a general admission ticket for $4. One (4 can) donation per person. NBC 5 and Kroger are proud sponsors of this event.
- Senior Free Admission Thursdays. Seniors 60 years of age or older can get into the fair on any Thursday for free.
- Coca-Cola $7 Thursdays. Bring any empty 20 ounce coke product to the fair on Thursdays and get a general admission ticket for $7. One bottle per person.
Finally, there's a day to honor the members of the military and a day to honor first responders.
- Friday September 29 - Military Appreciation Day. All active military, retired military and veterans can show their military ID for free admission on Friday September 29. Military Spouses can also show their spouse ID for free admission. Accompanying children under the age of 18 will also get free admission.
- Friday October 13 - First Responders Day. All active and retired public law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency services agencies can show a valid badge or ID Card for free admission. Up to three additional free admission tickets will also be allowed for family members.
