Texas Woman Gives Up Returned Dog, Adopted by Another Family

A Southeast Texas woman who recently welcomed her pit bull home after the missing dog turned up in Indiana has given up the pet.

The Galveston County Daily News reported Saturday that JoeAnn Navarro parted with Blue because the year-old dog was too hard to handle

Blue was a pup when she disappeared from Navarro's Galveston yard about eight months ago.

The 69-year-old Navarro declined comment about giving Blue to the Galveston Island Humane Society.

Society official Caroline Dorsett-Pate says Blue is a good dog but needs a very strong hand. Dorsett-Pate says a young Galveston couple has since adopted Blue.

The animal was located last month at a shelter in Kokomo, Indiana, thanks to a microchip implant. Donations that funded the dog's return will now pay for training lessons.
