Texas Veterans Commission Offers $2.5M in Grants

Organizations have until Aug. 7 to apply

A state agency has earmarked $2.5 million in lottery proceeds for groups seeking to help Texas veterans and their families.

The Texas Veterans Commission on Monday announced the available grants. Organizations face an Aug. 7 deadline to apply.

Eligible services include transportation to medical facilities, counseling, short term financial assistance, legal help and housing support for homeless veterans.

The funding comes from the Texas lottery scratch-off game called Veterans Cash.
