Texas Students Injured in Alabama Bus Crash

Alabama state troopers say a charter bus full of teenagers from Texas collided with an overturned tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 10 near the Mississippi line, injuring 22 people.

One passenger is listed in serious condition, but authorities say the rest of the injuries were relatively minor cuts and bruises.

Trooper Greg Eubanks says a bus carrying 48 teenagers and two chaperones from Del Rio, Texas, to Orlando, Fla., struck an overturned 18-wheeler on I-10 about 12:30 a.m. CDT Monday. It's not clear why the truck had flipped, but Eubanks says the bus driver couldn't see the rig on the darkened highway.

Authorities say the uninjured students were taken to a motel.

Troopers rerouted traffic off the eastbound side of the interstate, but one lane has since reopened.
