Texas State University Student Dies

Student believed to have jumped

A 24-year-old student has died and another is hospitalized after supposedly jumping from
a Texas State University dormitory first-floor window and falling about six feet.

Sophomore Eirin Ann Hicks died from head injuries at the Brackenridge University Medical Center. She is believed to have jumped from a first-floor dormitory window hours before her death, along with a female and a male student, according to the Austin American Statesman.

Hicks was a resident adviser at the school.

A freshman, 19-year-old Kristin McCreery of the Houston area, remained hospitalized Wednesday with back injuries. Hospital spokeswoman Ellen Decareau said McCreery was in fair condition.

Hendricks said a male student who also jumped from the window, above a hill, wasn't hurt.

University police are interviewing students to determine what happened.

Counselors were available at TSU in San Marcos, located 30 miles south of Austin.
