Texas Sex Offender Allegedly Recorded Cheerleaders

Man charged with improper photography

A convicted sex offender in South Texas has been charged with videotaping girls at a cheerleading competition in San Antonio.

Bexar County Jail records show 60-year-old Andrew Sanchez III of San Antonio was being held Monday on a charge of improper photography. Bond was set at $7,500 for Sanchez, who was arrested Sunday by an off-duty police officer.

Police said the officer was working security at the American Cheer Power Southern National Championships when he noticed Sanchez shooting video.

The officer confronted Sanchez and determined he was a registered sex offender with no child in the competition at the Alamodome.

Online jail records don't list an attorney for Sanchez. He was convicted in 2008 of possession of child pornography and sentenced to three years in prison.
