Texas Medical Board Disciplines 3 Local Doctors

An Arlington surgeon, and two doctors from Fort Worth and Hurst are among 33 physicians recently disciplined by the Texas Medical Board, the Star-Telegram reports

Arlington surgeon Richard Alan Carter who branded himself as "America's weight-loss doctor" agreed to revise and clarify what the board called false and misleading advertising claims on his Web site. The board previously disciplined Carter in 2006 after the board said he left a sponge inside a patient’s abdomen after performing a surgery.

The Texas Medical board also disciplined Fort Worth Dr. Vernon Jack Hayes based on what the board said was Hayes’ failure to properly treat postoperative bleeding complications in a hysterectomy patient.  Dr. Robert Glenn Snow, of Hurst, was disciplined for allegedly failing to properly document postoperative care in a Lap-Band surgery patient.

Dr. Donald Delmer Pope of Brownwood also surrendered his medical license last week. He pleaded guilty last year to sexually assaulting an 8-year-old while he was visiting Arlington in 2000, the paper reported.
