Gate C6 at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was especially cheery for a rainy Friday morning filled the ground stops and flight delays.
"Hi, good morning! Are you Hayden," said a volunteer with American Airlines Something mAAgic Foundation. "Ready to do to Disney?"
Hayden from Allen, Texas was one of more than 30 children around the world whose Disney Orlando 'Make a Wish' was granted. Three of the 'Wish Kids' left DFW Friday morning.
"It's a good chance to be able to just take a break, relax, spend time together, not have to worry about anything," Hayden's mother Chelsea said. "Just put it behind us." Hayden is in remission after battling leukemia.
Lilah, another 'Wish Kid' has pediatric arthritis and uveitis, which caused blindness in her right eye. "She deserves this after everything that she's been through," Lilah's mom Courtney said.
Make a Wish partnered with American Airlines and the Something mAAgic Foundation to get the 'Wish Kids' and their families to Orlando, Florida. Gate C6 was set up like a Disney castle, with balloons, and cupcakes to complete the party atmosphere.
"It's the best feeling in the world to make something magic for these kids," Jermaine Simpson with the Something mAAgic Foundation said. "It takes the sting out of everything you're going through and you return to that 5-year old that's inside all of us."
