Gov. Greg Abbott, who took office in January, will deliver the commencement address at the University of North Texas in May.
It'll be the university's first university-wide commencement ceremony for all students who graduated at any time in the 2014-15 academic year.
"I can't think of a better way for our campus to celebrate the beginning of our 125th anniversary, to congratulate our kids, and to kick off the governor's first year than by being a part of the first mass commencement here at UNT," UNT President Neal Smatresk told the Denton Record Chronicle.
The university-wide commencement will be held at 8 p.m. at Apogee Stadium on Saturday, May 16.
Abbott will also make a "Texas Toss" before the Texas Rangers' first home opening against the Houston Astros on April 10.
