Texas Death Row Inmate Devoe Loses Another Appeal

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has rejected the appeal of a man condemned for killing two teens during a 2007 crime spree blamed for six deaths.

The Austin American-Statesman reports the state's highest criminal court Wednesday rejected appeals for Paul Devoe.

Devoe was arrested in Shirley, N.Y., where he grew up, several days after four people were slain in Jonestown, near Austin.

Devoe was condemned for killing 15-year-old Haylie Faulkner and 17-year-old Danielle Hensley. Faulkner was the daughter of Devoe's ex-girlfriend, Paula Griffith, who also was slain along with her boyfriend, Jay Feltner.

Devoe was also accused of killing bartender Michael Allred.

Prosecutors say Devoe was bound for New York, had car trouble near State Line, Pa., then killed 81-year-old Betty Jane Dehart and stole her vehicle.
