Texas DPS Honored by Legislators for Service

The Texas Department of Public Safety has been honored by legislators for continuing service and achievements.

DPS displayed some of the agency's law-enforcement equipment as part of Monday's daylong celebration in Austin. The list included a 1950s-era patrol car and individuals wearing vintage DPS uniforms.

Director Steven McCraw says DPS for nearly 200 years has been committed to protecting and serving Texans.

The agency's website includes a public sex offender registry, a criminal history conviction search site and a database that helps prevent the theft of commercial and farm grade equipment. The DPS site also provides information on how to renew a driver's license online.
