Texas Coach to Appeal Dismissal of Lawsuit

Texas assistant coach Joe Wickline has filed notice that he intends to appeal the dismissal of his contract dispute lawsuit

Texas assistant coach Joe Wickline has filed notice that he intends to appeal the dismissal of his contract dispute lawsuit against Oklahoma State, his former school.

Oklahoma State sued Wickline first, claiming he owed the school nearly $600,000 for breaking his contract when he took a job at Texas.

Cowboys athletic director Mike Holder claims Wickline took a lateral move, not a promotion, as specified in his contract. At issue is whether Wickline calls plays for Texas or if that job belongs to assistant Shawn Watson.

Wickline counter-sued in Austin, claiming mental anguish and interference with his Texas contract. A district judge tossed out Wickline's lawsuit last month, saying the dispute must be resolved in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma State's lawsuit against Wickline is still pending in Payne County, Oklahoma.
