Louisiana authorities say a boating accident killed an 8-year-old Texas boy, and a man from the same Texas town has been arrested on drunken driving charges.
The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says three boys were riding in an inflated tube behind a boat on Sunday when the boat turned and the tube hit the bank, throwing them out.
An agency spokesman says the accident killed Damian Haines of Vidor, Texas, and hospitalized another boy.
He says 35-year-old Eddie L. Dunwoody is in the Calcasieu Parish jail on charges including vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injury and driving while intoxicated with child endangerment.
The spokesman said in an email that he doesn't know whether Dunwoody has an attorney who could comment.
