10 Millionth Visitor Enters the Kimbell

World famous Fort Worth Museum marks milestone

Anna Chaney of Irving received a lot more than a tour of world class art at the Kimbell Art Museum Sunday.

Chaney became the Fort Worth institution's 10 millionth visitor.  Upon entering, Chaney received a lifetime family membership, which includes free admission for a family of four to all special exhibitions.  She also received a collection of Museum books and gifts and a weekend at the Omni Fort Worth hotel.

"Big surprise but I'm happy it's here. We love the museum," Chaney said with her husband Ernest standing next to her.

The Kimbell opened in 1972.  It was designed by American architect Louis I. Kahn.  The Kimbell's permanent collection includes masterpieces from ancient to modern times.

Sunday also marked the final day of the exhibition Caravaggio and His Followers in Rome.  The Kimbell Art Museum was its only U.S. venue.
