Carrollton police say a 19-year-old man resident faces several aggravated assault charges after allegedly firing a gun Monday afternoon near two schools. [[455675443,R]]
Celso Abel Mendoza-Contreras is accused of firing shots at a vehicle on the 1800 block of Brake Drive, about a block from R.L. Turner High School and Central Elementary School.
Seven people were inside the vehicle at the time, and none were injured.
Police said officers arrested Mendoza-Contreras a short time later and recovered the gun he allegedly used.
Mendoza-Contreras was booked in the Carrollton City Jail on seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of deadly conduct, police said.
Additional details on what led to the gunshots have not been released.
