Tarrant Regional Water District to Lift Stage 1 Restrictions

The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) said that they will be ending the Stage 1 watering restrictions beginning May 18.

The drought restrictions were put in place in June 2013 when TRWD's restrictions fell below 75 percent capacity, limiting outdoor watering to twice a week. After recent heavy rains, the reservoirs have reached over 95 percent capacity. It is estimated that the water conservation measures reduced demands by 39 percent during a period of peak use and saved an estimated 112 million gallons per day.

Drought conditions have subsided, but TRWD encourages people to practice cater conservation to reduce peak demands in the summer and to prolong the area's water supply. In addition, customers of the City of Fort Worth are reminded that a permanent twice per week ordinance from the city remains in effect and is not impacted by the removal of drought restrictions.

TRWD's wholesale customers include the cities of Fort Worth, Arlington and Mansfield, as well as the Trinity River Authority.
