Tarrant County Under Burn Ban

Burn ban in place for at least 90 days

Tarrant County is under a burn ban for the next 90 days.

Tuesday, the Tarrant County Commissioner's Court approved an outdoor burn ban for the county effective immediately.

The county said the area is "under imminent threat of severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from the threat of wildfires due to the dry grass conditions and gusty winds that occur during the winter season; therefore, all outdoor burning in Tarrant County is Prohibited."

Officials with the county also recommended residents in rural areas keep an area of about 30 feet mowed between the home and out buildings to prevent grass or wildfires from reaching structures.

Violators face a class C Misemeanor with a fine up to $500.
