Free school supplies will be made available to approximately 10,000 Tarrant County children on Aug. 6 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth.
Families hoping to take part in the Tarrant County Back to School Roundup will need to pre-register by Aug. 1 and they must meet 2012 Federal Poverty Income guidelines and have a student in pre-K through 12th grade. Read more about the requirements here.
You must pre-register to attend. Families are strongly encouraged to arrive early as a limited number of vouchers will be available at each pre-registration event on a first-come, first-served basis. A complete list of registration events is below.
Children can also get dental, health and vision screenings, immunizations, haircuts, information, services, and more at the roundup. Students through Grade 5 will also receive a free backpack. To receive immunizations, families must bring their child's vaccine records.
The roundup will be held in the exhibit hall between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 8. Parking is $5 at Will Rogers. Free parking will be available across the street at Farrington Field. The T will provide free bus service on Aug. 6 to Roundup participants (pre-registration voucher is required).
The event is sponsored by Walmart and Sam's Club.
Dallas has a similar event for DISD students. Get more information on that event here.
