Suspect Arrested in Murder of Zoe Hastings: Dallas Police

A suspect is in custody in the death of 18-year-old Zoe Hastings, Dallas police announced Saturday.

Hastings was found dead in her family's white Honda Odyssey on the morning of Oct. 12, the day after she disappeared somewhere between her home and church.

Police said test results of evidence collected at the scene revealed a match in the DNA database, and a suspect was identified as Antonio Lamar Cochran, 34.

Members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Apprehension Team located Cochran and arrested him Saturday, police said.

Cochran is charged with capital murder and is held at the Dallas County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Police had previously said Hastings stopped at the Walgreens near the intersection of Garland and Peavey roads to return a Redbox DVD and that a witness observed a black male get into the minivan with her before they drove away.

Maj. Max Geron thanked the community for tips and assistance in helping detectives working on the case.

"Citizens throughout the community provided invaluable tips that aided in this arrest," Geron said in a statement.

"Investigators worked countless hours and followed numerous leads throughout the last several days to identify and track down the suspect who committed this horrific crime. This would not have been possible without the involvement of the citizens of this great city," Geron said.
