Teen Arrested in Murder of Duncanville Teen

Duncanville police have arrested a teen suspected in the shooting death of a 15-year-old cancer patient in front of his home earlier this month.

Tyler Geraud Wiley, 19, is charged with capital murder in the death of Ryan Lara.

Police said Lara was found shot at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the 700 block of Wren Avenue after a possible attempted robbery. According to witnesses, Lara was moving his parent’s vehicle from the street to the driveway when shots were fired.

Lara, a Byrd Middle School student, had been undergoing treatment for lymphoma when he was killed.

Wiley is now jailed in Dallas County on a $1 million bond.

Police are continuing their investigation and believe there could be additional suspects involved in the homicide. They are also searching for a silver, four-door 2000 Acura TL with a sunroof believed to be involved in the homicide.

"It brings us some level of peace knowing that this guy's been charged and locked up," the victim's brother Richard Lara said. "But still, someone's still out there."
