Survey on Harvey's Health Impacts Nearing Deadline

Residents have until Dec. 21 to do the 10-minute survey

Officials say a December deadline is nearing for Houston-area residents to take a survey about any health or environmental problems they've dealt with since Hurricane Harvey struck last year.

The survey is part of the Hurricane Harvey Registry, a venture from Rice University, the Environmental Defense Fund and health departments in Houston and in Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties.

Harvey made landfall in Texas in August 2017.

Residents have until Dec. 21 to do the 10-minute survey. More than 2,000 people have so far taken the survey.

Rice University Provost Marie Miranda says the survey results will help officials better understand Harvey's full impact and identify unmet health needs and prepare for future storms.

Harvey killed 68 people and caused an estimated $125 billion in damage statewide.
