Suhm Finds $1.8M to Keep Rec Centers Open

It looks like cutbacks at Dallas recreation centers won't be as bad as previously thought.

City Manager Mary Suhm announced the discovery of $1.8 million.

You can bet that Suhm didn't find that sum under the couch cushions at City Hall. Suhm said the money comes from a recent cut in discounts once given to contractors who use the city landfill.

The money will be used to keep the majority of the recreation centers open during their normal hours next year, rather than cutting them back as previously proposed.
