Substitute Teacher Attacked in Phone Fight

A 66-year substitute teacher in Houston has been treated and released from a hospital after a student allegedly attacked her when she confiscated his cellphone.

Police arrested the 16-year-old boy over  the videotaped incident at Nimitz High School in the Aldine Independent School District.

Several other students recorded Thursday's altercation on their cellphones and posted the video online. The teacher suffered minor injuries.

District spokesman Jason Spencer says officials are doing everything they can to make sure teachers and students feel safe.

The video shows a student towering over the teacher, shoving her a couple of times, she falls and he retrieves his cellphone, which students are not allowed to use during class.

The juvenile, whose name hasn't been released, was charged with  causing injury to an elderly person.
