Student, 9, Found Hanged in School Bathroom

Grief counselors are on hand at a suburban Dallas elementary school after a 9-year-old boy was found hanged in a school bathroom in an apparent suicide.

Police in The Colony say the fourth-grader was found by school staff at Stewart's Creek Elementary School on Thursday afternoon. Lt. Darren Brockway said the boy "had reportedly hung himself in a bathroom" and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Autopsy results are pending.

Police say no criminal charges are expected. The school district said Friday that no details on the incident would be released out of respect to the boy's family.

The Colony is about 20 miles north of Dallas.
