A second line of rain and thunderstorms is in the forecast for North Texas between late Monday afternoon and Monday evening.
The storms, triggered by a cold front currently in Northwest Texas, could spawn severe storms if there is enough sunshine to bring instability to the atmosphere, NBC 5 meteorologist James Aydelott said.
The first round of thunderstorms rolled through North Texas early Monday. It was the first widespread rain in the area since the day of Ike's landfall on Sept. 13.
If isolated severe storms form between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., the main threat will be dime-size hail, Aydelott said. If more widespread severe storms develop, there is a risk of isolated small tornadoes, Aydelott said.
