Storm Topples Tree, Traps Child in Car

Firefighters rescued a toddler from his parents' car after a tree fell on top of it during Monday's severe weather.

The Carrollton Fire Department helped pull 3-year-old Joseph Zavala from his parents' car.

Freddy Zavala said his wife had strapped in their son and ran back into the home to retrieve an item. Within that time, a tree in their backyard snapped.

The car was still parked in the driveway behind the home when the tree fell on it.

The family called 911 and firefighters helped rescue the little boy, which took about 20 minutes.

Joseph wasn't hurt and the car wasn't damaged

The family isn't sure whether lightning or wind knocked the tree down.
