Stolen Corvette Returned After 42 Years

We all love a good love story and this, between a man and a car he shared with his wife, has an improbably happy ending 42 years in the making.

Paul Jones saved up his money in college and bought the beautiful '67 Corvette Stingray.

On August 12, 1973, the car was stolen from in front of the apartment he shared with his wife in Fort Worth.

After four decades, they got a call from the Ohio Highway Patrol with news they never thought they would hear.

"He said, 'We have your car.' And I asked him, 'What piece of my car?' and he said, 'The whole thing,'" said Jones' wife Pamela, who was shocked.

The car had a fake vehicle identification number, once police realized it was stolen, they tracked the Joneses down.

Pamela got a new title for the car and the couple arranged to have it transported to Hurst, where it arrived on Friday.

"He is a very fortunate man. He should go buy a lottery ticket," said Justin Fischeo, who transported the Corvette.

Paul Jones remarked how skinny the steering wheel is compared to the cars now, and that he is ecstatic.

"It's beautiful, and she is really pretty," Paul Jones said while pointing to his wife who was instrumental in getting the car back.

The couple agreed some changes are ahead for storage.

"It will be kept in the garage with an alarm," said Pamela Jones.

The Corvette is in pretty good shape and they're hoping to start it soon, after it gets restored at Mid-Cities Classics.
