Three children have been placed with Child Protective Services after their parents allegedly starved them and forced them to stay in a bathroom at a Dallas motel.
CPS said Monday the children are in the same foster home.
Dallas police discovered the children, ages 11, 10 and 5, when responding to a disturbance call at a motel in the 8100 block of North Stemmons Freeway on July 3. Police said the children appeared to be underweight and emaciated.
Court documents indicate the children required hospitalization after being discovered by police. The children were released from the hospital July 13, but the 10-year-old boy later had to return to the hospital.
Court records show the stepfather was charged with continuous aggravated sexual assault of one of the children, a girl. The mother is charged with injury to a child.
Both remained in jail Monday.
Police say a 1-year-old child who appeared to be healthy was found in a crib at the motel and also was put into CPS custody. The baby is in the same foster home as the other children.
CPS said several out-of-state family members have expressed interest in caring for the children.
