St. Paul University Hospital Building Imploded Sunday

Decades of Dallas history came tumbling down in seconds Sunday morning as crews imploded St. Paul University Hospital.

The structure near the corner of Harry Hines Boulevard and Inwood Road first opened its doors in 1963 and is now owned by UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Among the notable achievements in the hospital's history, in 1985 St. Paul became the first hospital in Dallas to successfully complete a heart transplant.

Operations for St. Paul have been transferred in recent years to William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital after UT Southwestern leaders decided a renovation would have been too costly.
