An Austin husband and wife have been arrested and charged with murdering and burning a 21-year-old woman's body on Mardi Gras.
Arrest affidavits said the husband and wife, 33-year-old Kenneth Hernandez and 26-year-old Martha Medina-Hernandez, are attempthing to lay the blame on each other.
The body of 21-year-old Christy Lynne Espinosa was found burned beside a road in eastern Travis County.
The Austin-area woman had been last seen celebrating Mardi Gras in Austin. Arrest affidavits said Espinosa was riding with the Hernandezes as they drove around Travis County drinking on Feb. 24.
Sheriff's spokesman Roger Wade said both the husband and wife have been charged with murder. Statements from the pair offer different motives in the woman's death, police said.
Medina-Hernandez was arrested in Eagle Pass on Sunday, while Hernandez was arrested Tuesday in Austin.
