Southeast Texas Driver Indicted In Good Samaritan Death

A grand jury in Beaumont has indicted a 34-year-old Southeast Texas driver accused of striking and killing a woman who had stopped to check on conditions of people involved in a hit-and-run traffic accident.

Patrick Grandchampt of Nederland is charged with intoxication manslaughter for the May death of 37-year-old Brandi Milliner on a Jefferson County highway. The Beaumont Enterprise reports Beaumont police records show she stopped to make sure no one was hurt in the wreck and was hit by Grandchampt.

He was given a field sobriety test and was arrested and jailed.

If convicted, he could get up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
