People have been spotting snakes slithering across North Texas searching for higher ground after the recent floods.

Several NBC 5 viewers have reported seeing snakes on their window sills, door frames and in their gardens.

Authorities said it is important to remember that anyone bitten by snake should immediately go to an emergency room.

Texan Lori Ulmer was bitten by a copperhead and immediately went to an emergency room when her hand began to swell. A doctor told her that if she had waited to seek medical attention, she would have lost her arm.
