Skull, Bones, Identified as Missing NRH Woman

A skull and bones found more than four years ago have been identified as a 34-year-old woman missing for nearly seven years.

Gabriela Aguila's husband reported her missing on Nov. 20, 2004, three weeks after she left their North Richland Hills home for Laredo.

In Jan., 2007, a Hill County man was walking his dog near Farm Road 67 and Interstate 35 near Itasca when he stumbled upon a human skull. For three years, the remains went unidentified until DNA analysis positively identified them as Aguila.

The DNA match led to an additional archeological dig by the Hill County Sheriff's Department, North Richland Hills Police Department and the Tarrant County medical examiner between April 21-26, 2010, in an attempt to locate additional evidence.

The initial release of that information was withheld by investigators so they could follow up on leads and notify the woman's family in Mexico -- where her husband is now believed to be living, according to a report in the Star-Telegram.

Investigators from North Richland Hills continue to investigate Aguila's death and disappearance.  They have revealed no leads in the investigation nor have they released a cause of death.

Anyone with information about Aguilera's case is asked to contact the North Richland Hills Police Department at 817-427-7000.
