Skeletal Remains Found in Woods

Police say a passerby exploring a wooded area near a railroad track in North Texas has discovered the skeletal remains of a human.

Wichita Falls police say the clothed body was found Saturday beneath a shade tree not far from Waurika Highway in their city near the Oklahoma border, about 150 northwest of Dallas.

Authorities say they're unable to immediately determine the victim's race, age or gender.

Police say they are investigating the case as a homicide because the cause of death is not yet known.

The remains will be sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office in Fort Worth for autopsy.
