The Greenville Police Department located human skeletal remains Thursday morning in a field in the 1400 block of E. Joe Ramsey Blvd after responding to a citizen call.[[291717961,L]]
The remains have not presently been identified, but they are being sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification Forensic Services Unit.
An autopsy may reveal cause of death and identity of the remains, but no evidence of foul play has been discovered at this time.
The remains were found over a large area and debris discovered in that area may have belonged to the deceased. The debris, which was collected as evidence, did include identifiers that do not fit any person currently listed as missing.
The evidence may belong to an individual one document lists as homeless and ill, while other evidence indicated the owner of the debris traveled to Greenville via bus several months ago.
The Greenville Police Department will continue to investigate this matter while autopsy results
