SUV Driver Collides With Fort Worth School Bus

Three to six people suffered minor injuries when a school bus collided with a sports utility vehicle Tuesday morning, officials say.

According to MedStar and the Fort Worth Independent School District, only two people were on-board the school bus at the time of the crash -- a driver and one student.

Officials with the district said the bus was headed to Morningside Elementary School when a vehicle was tailgating behind.  The driver pulled to the side to let the vehicle pass, and the driver turned into the bus instead of driving around it.

The crash took place near Avenue L and Bishop, not far from Berry Street and U.S. 287 southeast of downtown.

All of the injuries were minor and no one required hospitalization, MedStar reported.  At this time, the number of people in the SUV at the time of the crash is unclear -- which accounts for the discrepancy in the number of injured reported.  NBC 5 is working to confirm that information.

NBC 5's Jeff Smith contributed to this report.
