Seven-Hour Standoff at Apartments Ends Safely

A seven-hour standoff at a Fort Worth apartment complex ended safely Tuesday morning.

Officers were at the Peppertree Acres Apartments in the 6500 block of Sheridan Road in Fort Worth at about 11 p.m. Monday to serve a warrant for a man suspected in several robberies.

When officers tried to serve the warrant, the man barricaded himself inside the apartment.

Police evacuated residents on all sides of the apartment and used additional caution as the man was believed to have guns inside the residence.

The standoff ended peacefully at about 6 a.m. Tuesday when officers arrested one man and took two women in for questioning.

The apartment belonged to the man's mother. Police identified the man's girlfriend and sister as the two women taken for questioning, both of whom were in the apartment at the time of the standoff.

Though it was believed at least one weapon was in the apartment, police said that the man was apprehended unarmed. Fort Worth officers said they had to breech the door using a ram before he surrendered peacefully.
