Six Finalists Remain for FWISD Superintendent

Interim Superintendent Walter Dansby one of the finalists

The Fort Worth Independent School District Board of Education is in the final stages of selecting a new superintendent.

As early as November, the board began actively seeking candidates through direct outreach as well as advertising in national educational publications.

Aided by Thompson & Horton LLP, citizen focus groups were also able to submit their opinions. In addition to these groups, an email was provided for anyone to share their thoughts on what the superintendent position should entail.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports Interim Superintendent Walter Dansby is one of the finalists for the position, however, school officials will not release information on the other five candidates other than to say that most are from Texas.

The district plans for the new superintendent to assume duties in March.
