Young Girl Dead After Single-Car-Crash, One Person Arrested

4 Children and 3 adults were involved in the crash which left a 5-year-old dead.

A 5-year-old girl is dead after a single-car-crash in Arlington, Saturday. 25-year-old Valencia Freeman has been arrested on one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault-serious bodily injury. 

Police said, Freeman was driving the sedan and apparently lost control of the vehicle along the 5100 block of South Collins Street and crashed into a utility pole.

Three children, ages 3, 5 and 9, as well as three adults, were hospitalized. 5-year-old Deunna Fairchild,  was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:53 a.m.

One of the adults was taken by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. A second adult, and the remaining children, were taken to the nearby Medical Center of Arlington.

The condition of the third adult is not yet known.

As a result of the crash, 517 customers lost power according to Oncor. The power has since been restored.

South Collins Street near the Arlington Airport is expected to be closed for the next couple of hours.

According to Arlington Police, speed and impairment were contributing factors in the crash.
