Several Rescued From Dallas Apartment Fire

Several people had to be rescued from a fast-moving 2-alarm fire at the Surry Row Apartments in Dallas on Sunday morning

Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to the three-story complex on the 7200 block of Marvin D. Love Freeway shortly before 4 a.m.  As they arrived, smoke and fire were visible in residences on both the second and third floors.

Before firefighters could get the blaze under control, the fire was elevated to 2-alarms.  Meanwhile, firefighters used ladders to rescue several people trapped on second-floor balconies.

Officials said there were no injuries reported in the fire.

In all, three residences were damaged by the fire and several others were damaged by smoke and water.  The Dallas chapter of the American Red Cross is working to help the families displaced by the fire.

Firefighters said the fire appears to have started inside a residence on the second floor with the cause being electrical.
