Have you ever wondered what to do with a losing scratch-off ticket?
Thousands submitted losing Dream Home Lottery tickets to a second-chance drawing for a new home.
Four finalists were each given keys, but only one worked to unlock a door at an event in McKinney. In the end, Carlos Zavala of Tyler came out with the grand prize.
Zavala was given a $500,000 to build a D.R. Horton Dream Home in any D.R. Horton community in Texas, Lottery officials said.
Scratch-off tickets for the drawing generated $35.2 million in sales and an estimated $7 million in revenue for public education.
