Scout Families Deliver Petition to End No-Gay Policy

They hand delivered a petition on Monday to scout headquarters in Irving

Scouts and their families have delivered a petition to the Boy Scouts national headquarters in Texas urging the organization to end its policy excluding gay scouts and leaders.

They say the petition delivered Monday in Irving includes 1.4 million signatures. Jennifer Tyrrell was among the dozen who delivered the petition as the Boy Scouts of America meets this week to consider ending its ban on gays.

She says she doesn't want to see any more parents treated in the manner she was. Tyrrell says she was forced out as leader of her son's Cub Scout pack because she's gay.

She says the policy is "archaic" and needs to change. The families were waiting for a representative of Boy Scouts of America to come and accept their petition.
