School Quiz Leads Police to Burglar

A high school paper helped lead Fort Worth police to a burglary suspect.

On Tuesday, officers arrested 17-year-old Joseph Ross on burglary charges. Police say they believe Ross and two others broke into a home on Verona Way last month.

The burglars took off with electronics and jewelry from the home, but they left something behind -- a backpack that contained a high school quiz.

"He made a 100, it was on a quiz or a test grade, the officer said," homeowner Rene McNeil said. "It was one of the 17-year-olds suspects who apparently has dropped out of high school."

Police arrested Ross for another burglary in north Fort Worth last fall. They say he was shot by a neighbor after police chased him down. Ross is awaiting trial for that burglary.
