Motions Withdrawn in Saginaw Slaying Suspect Case

The 17-year-old North Texas teen suspected of sexually assaulting and suffocating his 6-year-old neighbor was expected to appear in a Tarrant County courtroom on Wednesday.

However, his attorneys withdrew the motions that led to the pre-trial hearing -- including a motion to reduce the teen's bond -- and the defendant never made an appearance.

Tyler Holder was indicted for capital murder in the death of 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher on Dec. 12, according to the Tarrant County Attorney's Office.

Gallagher, who lived two houses away from Holder, was missing for about five hours when her body was discovered about a mile from her home in Saginaw on July 1.

Gallagher was found wrapped in a tarp with plastic grocery sacks taped over her head with duct tape. An arrest warrant for Holder in that case also states the 6-year-old was sexually assaulted.

On Wednesday, Holder was expected to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing on the charge of attempted capital murder of Det. Charles Lodatto. However, Holder never appeared in court. His attorneys did appear to meet with him in a holding cell off to the side of the courtroom.

The hearing was to address a defense motion that asked for a reduction in bail. However, the defense withdrew that motion and the hearing was over in about one minute.

Holder allegedly fired on officers at his home when a multi-agency major crimes task force attempted to serve arrest and search warrants, seriously wounding a veteran Arlington officer. That officer, Detective Charles Lodatto, suffered a serious injury when a bullet severed his femoral artery and lodged in his hip. Lodatto was released from the hospital on July 29, six days after attempting to serve the warrants.

During the exchange of gunfire with law enforcement, Holder suffered a gunshot wound near his chin. He was treated at a Fort Worth area hospital before being released back into police custody on August 7. Since then, Holder has remained in the Tarrant County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
