SPCA Opens New Dallas Facility Monday

$2 million in donations still sought

The SPCA of Texas is opening a new building on Monday, the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center.

The 39,000-square-foot facility replaces the 40-year-old Dealey Animal Care Center near downtown, which is being torn down to make way for two new lanes of highway.

The SPCA said that thanks to generous donations from supporters, the SPCA of Texas met the Rees-Jones Foundation's challenge to raise $2 million in 9 months for the building.  By doing so, they received $4 million from the foundation.

The SPCA has raised $6 million of their $8 million goal and said they are working hard to secure the remaining $2 million.

Those that wish to donate can do so through the SPCA.

The new state-of-the-art facility is located at 2400 Lone Star Drive in west Dallas.
