A law banning sanctuary cities takes effect next month but opponents are not backing down.
Today, dozens protested Senate Bill 4 and the bill’s co-author Don Huffines.
“I'm going to be subjected to racial discrimination and profiling by the police,” said Carrollton resident Marco Mejia.
The demonstration was held in front of Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Plano, a dealership owned by the state senator’s brother Ray Huffines.
The protesters condemned SB 4 and called for a boycott of the Huffines dealerships.
The lot’s owner Ray Huffines tells NBC 5 he is “bewildered” the group would rally in front of the car lot. He said his brother Don is in the real estate business has nothing to do with the family dealerships.
“He profits off this car dealership chain,” Mejia said. “So we're launching an economic boycott to strike against that.”

"Get a job! Pay taxes!" one driver yelled.
“They're either like flicking us off or like telling us to get a job or to go back home. Like, this is our home, we're here defending our home,” said 17-year-old Karla Quinones.
Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston have filed lawsuits challenging SB 4.
The law is set to take effect September 1.
