Russ Martin Foundation Gives $35k to Officer's Family

Former top-rated talk radio host Russ Martin's show is no longer on the air, but that hasn't stopped the Russ Martin Show Listeners Foundation from providing assistance to the families of fallen police officers and firefighters.

On Wednesday, the foundation wrote a check for $35,000 to Danielle Story, the widow of Arlington motorcycle officer Craig Story.  Story was killed earlier that morning when his motorcycle burst into flames after colliding with a school bus.

Martin's Listener's Foundation grew out of his long-running afternoon talk show on KLLI-FM, before the station switched formats in 2008 and before Martin was arrested on three misdemeanor charges accusing him of assaulting his girlfriend. Since 2003, the foundation has provided assistance to the families of 17 fallen North Texas officers and firefighters.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Story family can do so through the APA Benevolent Fund c/o the Arlington Police Association at the Arlington Credit Union, P.O. Box 27 Arlington, Texas 76004.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Russ Martin Show Listener's Foundation can do so through PayPal on Russ Martin's Web site.
