Man Rescued From Grapevine Trench

A technical rescue took place in Grapevine Monday after a construction worker fell about 10-feet into an open hole.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was walking on a fiber line above the trench when it collapsed, sending him into the trench.

The man was trapped, lying on his stomach and in good spirits while rescuers attempted to stabilize the trench and keep it from collapsing around him.

About an hour and a half later the man was freed from the hole and flown to an area hospital. The condition of the man, who complained of pain in his arms and hips, is not known.

The incident took place at a construction site near the 1700 block of state Highway 114 at Ira Woods.

Crews from Grapevine, Coppell, North Richland Hills, Bedford, Haltom City and Keller all assisted in the rescue.
