Fort Worth firefighters quickly put out a fire in a strip shopping center in Historic Handley, preventing it from spreading to other businesses.
Fire officials said Engine 24 arrived at U.S. Tax Solution on the 6700 block of East Lancaster to find heavy fire coming through the front door.
Firefighters forced their way into the tax business, as well as neighboring businesses, to battle the fire and to prevent it from spreading.
"Battalion Chief Barton said just five more minutes and this fire could have spread throughout the entire building," officials said in a news release Saturday.
Although there was smoke damage to the adjacent businesses, firefighters were able to keep the damage to a minimum.
James Jason, with the tax business, said they have been in business for about eight years though they just moved to Handley in Dec. 2012.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
